CPI-M leader assaulted in Bengal

Kolkata, May 26 (IANS) Former West Bengal minister and CPI-M leader Sushanta Ghosh, whose facing trial for murder, was assaulted by a man in West Midnapore district on Thursday.

Ghosh, a prime accused in the "Midnapore skeleton case", was assaulted in a court premises by Manoranjan Singh who accused the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader of killing his son.

Hurling abuses at Ghosh, Singh ran towards him and punched him before being taken away by police. The Marxist leader, however, was unhurt.

Now out in bail, Ghosh was arrested in 2011 after several skeletons were recovered near his house in Benachapra village in West Midnapore district.

Earlier in 2012, a man had attacked him with a shoe after Ghosh was granted bail in the case.
