London, May 26 (IANS) Four folios of British playwright William Shakespeare were sold for nearly around $3.67 million at Christie's London auction on Wednesday afternoon.
Margaret Ford, international head of Books & Manuscripts at Christie's, said the four books were acquired by the same private US collector, with the unrecorded First Folio going for $2.6 million, Xinhua news agency reported.
The First Folio contains 36 plays, 18 of which, including Macbeth and The Tempest, might have been lost without this edition.
The Second Folio was sold for $2.8 lakh, third $5.33 lakh and fourth $69,889.
