Militants seriously injure cop, snatch weapon in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 25 (IANS) A policeman was seriously injured on Wednesday as separatist militants attacked a security guard attached to a National Conference (NC) leader and snatched his service rifle in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.

"The militants attacked the security guard of NC district president Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir in Manghama village today (Wednesday) afternoon and decamped with his service rifle," a senior police officer told IANS here.

He said a policeman, standing alongside the security guard, was critically injured in the attack and later shifted to a hospital.

The NC leader had gone to attend a marriage function in Manghama.

On Monday, three policemen, including an officer, were killed and the weapon of one policeman was snatched in two guerrilla attacks in Srinagar.
