Wales extends coach Coleman's contract until 2018

Cardiff, May 24 (IANS) Wales football team chief coach Chris Coleman has signed a contract extension until 2018.

Football Association of Wales (FAW) on Monday renewed the contract of the 45-year-old after he led the Dragons to UEFA Euro 2016, their first major tournament since the 1958 FIFA World Cup in Sweden, reports Efe.

"Everyone knows what managing Wales means to me. Leading my country in France this summer will be the proudest moment of my career, and I'm delighted to have an opportunity to do the same in Russia in 2018," Coleman said after the announcement, according to FAW official website.

"We've learned a lot as a national team over the past few years, we will learn a lot from the Euros this summer, we must use all these experiences to push forward," he added.

"I am delighted that this has been agreed before the European Championship next month. We get together on Tuesday for our pre-tournament camp in Portugal."

Wales will play in Group B of Euro 2016, held in France between June 10 and July 10, with England, Russia and Slovakia.
