New Delhi, May 24 (IANS) "Government communication" has a crucial role to play in a vast country like India known for its diversity, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Ajay Mittal said here on Tuesday.
Interacting with a team of journalists from Nepal who are on a familiarisation tour, Mittal briefed them about the role and relevance of the public broadcaster within the media terrain.
He also apprised them of the "role and relevance of government communication in the light of the vast diversity existing within the media landscape", an official release said here.
Members of the delegation were also briefed on sector wise initiatives and the growth potential of the media and entertainment sector in India.
During the discussions, Mittal gave an overview of the key policies and initiatives of his ministry and highlighted the initiatives taken recently with regard the broadcasting and the film sector in the domain of FM phase III and Film certification.
