Naples (Italy), May 23 (IANS) Security forces in the Italian city of Naples arrested 10 people from the mafia group Vanella Grassi on Monday who, according to an investigation by the anti-mafia division, altered the results of two matches in Serie B.
Precautionary measures were taken against the detainees who fixed the results of the Modena-Avellino match on March 17, 2014, and the Avellino-Reggina game on May 25, as confirmed by authorities on Monday, reports Efe.
Investigators intercepted a telephone conversation between members of the mafia group in which there was talk of "eat three dumplings" referring to the three goals that were to be scored in the Avellino-Reggina match, which eventually ended with a score of 3-0.
There are other investigations, some of which include Genoa player Armando Izzo, recently summoned by Italy coach Antonio Conte, and Avellino's Francesco Millesi.
