Shimla, May 23 (IANS) Now you can get Rs.1,000 cash reward if you catch a driver of Himachal Road Transport Corp driving negligently!
Facing criticism for the failure to curb the rise in road accidents involving state-run buses, state Transport Minister G.S. Bali on Monday announced a cash prize of Rs.1,000 for the passengers who record a mobile video of a negligent driver.
"Now any passenger can simply record a video tape using own mobile phone and its camera to catch the driver if he driving recklessly or negligently," he told reporters here.
He said the video can be sent at 94180-00529.
"If the video show the negligence driving, action will be initiated against the driver concerned. And the sender will be rewarded Rs.1,000," the minister added.
The state roadways has fleet of over 1,900 buses.
The state government has already imposed a ban on the usage of mobile phones and playing music while driving.
Thirty-nine people were killed in three major road accidents in the state last week. In two accidents, a state roadways bus was involved while a private bus in the third.
