Berlin, May 23 (IANS) Germany and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan will soon sign a contract with English football giants Manchester City, despite suffering from a knee injury, German sports newspapers Kicker and Sport Bild reported on Monday.
The transfer deal could be closed in the coming days for about 25 million euros ($28 million), according to the papers, but so far none of the teams have confirmed the plan, reports Efe.
Gundogan's arrival at City may happen almost simultaneously with that of the new coach of the English team, Spanish Pep Guardiola, who for the past three seasons coached Bayern Munich, the main rival of Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
If the 25-year-old midfielder, who is contractually bound to Dortmund until 2017, signs for City, he cannot immediately play because he is suffering from a dislocated kneecap.
