Hisar simmers as heat wave continues in Haryana, Punjab

Chandigarh, May 22 (IANS) Haryana's Hisar town continued to sizzle on Sunday with the maximum temperature recorded at 47.5 degrees, six degrees above average.

The town had on Saturday recorded the highest temperature of the season at 47.8 degrees Celsius.

Heat wave conditions continued in Haryana and Punjab on Sunday, even though temperatures at many places were lower than Saturday.

Most places in both states recorded maximum temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius.

Narnaul town in Haryana recorded a maximum temperature of 45 degrees.

Chandigarh recorded a high of 39.6 degrees.

Sikh holy city Amritsar and industrial city Ludhiana in Punjab recorded 41.5 and 41 degrees each. Patiala saw a high of 40.6 degrees.

Met officials have said that the heat wave will continue and weather will largely remain dry over the next few days.
