Paris, May 21 (IANS) India's campaign in the third edition of Rendez-Vous -- a Roland-Garros event -- ended on a sour note as both Adil Kalyanpur and Mahak Jain failed to make it to the finals of their respective categories.
While Adil finished second in his group following a loss against Minseom Lim of South Korea and a walk-over win over Lucas Koelle from Brazil on Friday, top seed Mahak lost both her matches against Himari Sato from Japan and Koreas Eunhye Lee to crash out of the tournament.
The tournament is a grass root level development initiative by the French Tennis Federation to promote young talents and introduce them to the clay court.
Adil and Mahak had won the India leg of the competition earlier this year at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA) courts to earn themselves a place in the playoffs against players from Japan, China, Brazil and South Korea.
The eventual winner of the tournament will get a wild card entry into the Roland Garros (French Open) Junior.
