Himachal’s Una scorches at 41.8 degrees

Shimla, May 21 (IANS) The hills of Himachal Pradesh continued to sizzle on Saturday, with Una recording a maximum temperature of 41.8 degrees Celsius, the weatherman said.

He said the state will get respite from the hot weather as western disturbances will become active in the region on May 23, bringing rain and thundershowers.

"Most of the towns in Himachal recorded maximum temperature three to four notches above the average, mainly due to lack of rains," an official of the meteorological office here told IANS.

He said the heat wave continued in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi and Sirmaur districts.

Shimla's maximum temperature was three notches above the average at 28.3 degrees.

Sundernagar recorded a high of 36.6 degrees while the maximum in Kalpa was 25 degrees.

The maximum in Dharamsala was 32.2 degrees, while in Nahan it was 34.9 degrees.

The Met department said the weather would largely remain dry on Sunday.
