Gurgaon, May 21 (IANS) A city-based property dealer and house owner has been booked for cheating and duping a Chinese woman national of over Rs.86 lakh, police said on Friday.
Ashish Manchanda, a property consultant and Rameswar Das Bansal, a resident of Gurgaon's Sushant Lok have been booked under Indian Penal Code's sections 406 (breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 120b (hatching conspiracy) for defrauding Liu Jiao Yue,
Liu, currently living in DLF Phase 1 in Gurgaon wanted to open a Chinese restaurant here last year, and approached Manchanda for a site. He took her to Bansal who was ready to provide space for the same.
Police officer Soran Lal told IANS that an agreement was reached between both the parties but Manchanda and Bansal did not disclose that the site shown for restaurant was in a residential area while the Chinese woman had demanded a commercial site.
They took over Rs.86 lakh from her but neither provided space for a restaurant nor they returned the money.
A case has been registered at DLF Phase 1 police station and our investigation is on, the officer said.
No one has been arrested yet.
