Mercury climbs down in Delhi but no respite

New Delhi, May 20 (IANS) The mercury climbed down slightly in Delhi on Friday to settle at 41.5 degrees Celsius, still two notches above average, offering no respite to the city's residents.

The maximum temperature on Thursday was 42.8 degrees, and the minimum 28.6 degrees.

As the day sizzled, there was no respite during morning or evening hours as the minimum temperature too, at 31.2 degrees, was five degrees above the season's average.

The weather office said the maximum humidity was 64 percent and minimum 39 percent.

No relief is in sight for the next few days as the mercury is likely to hover at 42-43 degrees, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

On Saturday, the maximum temperature is likely to be around 42 degrees and minimum of 31 degrees. It may be partly cloudy with the possibility of dust storm/thunderstorm, the IMD said.
