New Delhi, May 20 (IANS) Chinese internet and technology conglomerate LeEco on Friday set a industry benchmark by selling 500,000 Le 1s Eco smartphones and that too comes from a new entrant in a crowded smartphone market in India.

Apart from the huge number of devices sold, the company also notched up an industry first by bundling content worth over Rs.500 million through LeEco memberships.

“It is very humbling to see consumer enthusiasm for our content ecosystem, and their demand for more and more original content,“said Atul Jain, COO, LeEco India, in a statement.

The Rs.9,999 device comes with a one-year free LeEco membership programme worth Rs.4,900 where the users will have access to over 2,000 movies (in 10 languages) and over 100 live TV channels.

The users will also get 5TB cloud personal storage space and over 3.5 million songs in 25 languages which will come live in the third quarter this year, the company said in a statement.

The device comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM and a mirror-surfaced fingerprint scanner.
