Congress leads by three votes – amid suspense

Thrissur (Kerala), May 19 (IANS) Anil Akkare of the Congress on Thursday led by just three votes in Wadakancherry constituency in Kerala, with the last electronic voting machine (EVM) yet to be counted developing a snag.

Election Commission officials said they had summoned experts to rectify the EVM. Until then, it is suspense time in the constituency.

Trailing behind Akkare is Mary Thomas of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).

The officials said they were unable to count the votes in the faulty EVM. Akkare is one of 22 Congress candidates on the winning track in the state where the Left has already won the election.
