Another sizzling day in Himachal

Shimla, May 19 (IANS) It was another sizzling day for Himachal Pradesh on Thursday with the mercury continuing to rise across the hills which recorded temperatures two to six degrees above average. In some areas, it crossed 43 degrees Celsius.

Shimla, situated at an altitude of 2,130 metres, was warm at 29 degrees Celsius, 4.5 notches above average.

"The maximum temperature remained above average in the state due to lack of rain. It increased by one to two degrees across the state," an official of the meteorological office told IANS.

He said Una town, located on the Punjab border, was the hottest at 43.4 degrees Celsius.

Dharamsala recorded a high of 33.6 degrees Celsius, 2.4 notches above average, while it was 38 degrees in Sundernagar, 35.6 degrees in Nahan and 25.4 degrees in Kalpa town.

The Met department said dry weather would prevail across the state till Sunday.
