Mumbai, May 18 (IANS) Anil Kapoor, who brought a 'desi' version of American show “24” to the small screen, says an "upgraded" version of epic Indian sagas "Ramayana" and "Mahabharata" would make for great content for the global audience.

In a comment on the Indian stories which can be replicated on TV globally, Anil said via a statement: “I believe 'Ramayana' and 'Mahabharata' can be upgraded and executed for the international audience.

"They would be loved for sure. In fact, the writers of 'Mission Impossible' once told me that they were looking for a script which they wanted to shoot in India. I had suggested (the story of) Akbar - The Great. It would have made for a phenomenal story, similar on the lines of 'Game of Thrones'."

The actor was seen in Oscar-winning “Slumdog Millionaire”, and also featured in “Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol” in 2011. He also gave a voiceover for a character in "Family Guy".

Talking about content, he said “there is nothing like outdated content, it could either be good or bad”.

Last year, Anil was seen on the big screen in “Dil Dhadakne Do” and “Welcome Back”, which will beam on Zee Cinema on May 28.

Anil feels his “roles of taporis seem to work the best”.
