Bengaluru, May 18 (IANS) After three cool sunless days, the heavens opened over Bengaluru on Wednesday evening with 28.4 mm rainfall.
"It rained 25.8 mm in HAL airport and 34.8 mm in Yelahanka," an official from the meteorological department told IANS.
Though no rained was recorded till 5.30 p.m., it suddenly started uniformly raining heavily at 6.30 p.m. in all parts of the city, including Cubbon Park, M.G. Road, Old Madras Road, Indira Nagar, Tin Factory, Koramangla, Kodathi and others.
"It rained uniformly over the entire city due to a depression the Bay of Bengal," said the official.
According to the meteorological department, a similar cloudy sky will prevail with one or two spells of rain accompanied by thundershowers will continue in the next two days.
Wednesday recorded a maximum temperature of 27.6 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 21.4 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the sudden downpour disrupted the Indian Premier League (IPL) Season Nine cricket match between local team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kings XI Punjab at the Chinnaswami Stadium.
However, there was no information till 10.15 pm if the match was abandoned.
