Bengaluru, May 18 (IANS) Winning the toss, Kings XI Punjab skipper Murali Vijay opted to field in the rain-marred IPL-9 league tie against hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Wednesday night at the Chinnaswamy stadium here.
The make-or-break match for RCB was, however, reduced to 15 overs from the stipulated 20 overs after a heavy downpour delayed the start by 110 minutes, as the ground was waterlogged despite tarpaulin covers.
RCB retained the same team that won by 9 wickets over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Kolkata on May 16, while Punjab made three changes, bringing in Farhaan Behardien, Kyle Abbot and K.C. Cariappa in place of Glen Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Anureet Singh.
The teams:
Punjab: M. Vijay, H.M. Amla, W.P. Saha, D.A. Miller, F. Behardien, Gurkeerat Singh, K.J. Abbott, A.R. Patel, M.M. Sharma, Sandeep Sharma and K.C. Cariappa
RCB: Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, A.B. de Villiers, S.R. Watson, K.L. Rahul, Sachin Baby, S.T.R. Binny, C.J. Jordan, S. Aravind, V.R. Aaron and Y.S. Chahal.
