Female ‘stalker’ arrested in Sicily

Palermo (Sicily), May 18 (IANS/AKI) Police arrested a 24-year-old woman in Sicily on Wednesday accused of assaulting a 33-year-old man.

She was also accused of smashing his car window and injuring him with a glass shard after he rejected her advances.

The woman from the town of Piazza Armerina, famous for its ancient Roman mosaics, was under house arrest after she attacked the man on Tuesday.

She faces charges of assault and stalking, which was a crime under Italian law.

The woman allegedly waged an 18-month-long campaign of threats and insults against the man after he repeatedly told her he did not want a relationship.
