Elton John confirms involvement in ‘Kingsman’ sequel

London, May 18 (IANS) A little over a month after reports emerged that Elton John is in negotiations to join "Kingsman: The Golden Circle", the British musician has himself confirmed his involvement in the film.

John uploaded a poster on Instagram showing a pair of star-shaped glasses and the quote "Wednesday night's alright for fighting" -- a clear reference to his 1973 song "Saturday night's alright for fighting", reports aceshowbiz.com.

He captioned the image: "It's been a long time since Tommy... 'Kingsman'".

While John has little experience in acting in front of the camera, Matthew Vaughn, who is returning to direct the sequel has been thinking about casting the singer for quite some time.

According to a report, he wanted John to be included in the first film for "a whole fun subplot about celebrities being kidnapped".

"Kingsman: The Golden Circle" is set to release in US theaters on June 16, 2017.

John joins Taron Egerton and Mark Strong, who will reprise their respective roles from 2014's "Kingsman: The Secret Service".

Colin Firth will also be back though his character seems to have died in the first movie. Halle Berry, Channing Tatum and Julianne Moore are among new cast members.
