Students block Gurgaon-Alwar road

Gurgaon, May 17 (IANS) Some 170 students of a private university here blocked the Gurgaon-Alwar road on Tuesday after being barred from taking exams due to shortage of attendance, officials said.

Traffic was disrupted on the road for some time before police cleared the protesting students.

Students from K.R. Mangalam university, 22 km from Gurgaon city, locked the main gate of the institute and did not permit staff and other students to enter for over an hour.

Police opened the gate without using force, witnesses said.

The university has around 1,300 students in different streams. The exams started on Monday.

The university said that students not having enough attendance would not be allowed to sit in exams according to UGC instructions.
