BJP apprises EC over misuse of money in Kerala, Punducherry polls

New Delhi, May 16 (IANS) The BJP on Monday apprised the Election Commission over the alleged "misuse of money" in Kerala and Punducherry assembly election and demanded immediate action.

A delegation comprising Minister of State for Skill Development Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Lok Sabha MP Bhupendra Yadav submitted a memorandum in their regard to the Election Commission, said a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) statement here.

"Money, bribes in cash and kind and several other influences have been blatantly used by (Kerala's Congress-led) UDF Alliance during the campaigning of the elections.

"We bring to the commission the incontrovertible evidence of how UDF Alliance has over time pushed in big sums of money in a bid to influence the assembly elections," it said.

The delegation demanded immediate action against the UDF leaders for violating model code of conduct and also urged the commission to disqualify the delinquent candidates.
