Nadda lays foundation of three medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu/Srinagar, May 15 (IANS) Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda Sunday laid foundation stones of three medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir - one in the Jammu region and two in the Kashmir Valley.

Each medical college will have 100 MBBS seats and a 300-bedded affiliated hospital facility. Each will entail a cost of Rs.189 crore.

 

One will be built in Rajouri district of Jammu region while the other two will be built in Anantnag in south Kashmir and Baramulla in north Kashmir.

Nadda also announced today under the prime minister's modernisation and upgradation programme in healthcare, the state will soon get two cancer treatment hospitals, one in the Jammu region and the other in the Valley.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who accompanied Nadda, thanked the central government for helping improve healthcare facilities in the state.

Minister of State in the PMO Jitendra Singh, was also present during the foundation laying ceremonies, said that Jammu and Kashmir had started its journey towards a new era of development during the tenure of the National Democratic Alliance government.
