Mercury continues to rise in Himachal

Shimla, May 15 (IANS) The mercury continued to rise across the hills of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday, with temperatures recorded two to four degrees above average and in some areas, also crossing 42 degrees Celsius.

Shimla, situated at an altitude of 2,130 metres, was warm at 27.2 degrees Celsius, four notches above average.

"The maximum temperature remained above average in the state due to lack of rain," an official of the meteorological office told IANS.

 

He said Una town, located on the Punjab border, was the hottest at 42.2 degrees Celsius.

Dharamsala recorded a high of 31.6 degrees Celsius, while it was 35.9 degrees in Sundernagar, 20.4 degrees in Kalpa and 35.8 degrees in Nahan.

The Met department said a few areas in the state would see rain or thundershowers on Monday.
