New Delhi, May 14 (IANS) The seventh edition of the Jagran Film Festival, which starts in the capital on July 1, will be focusing on Cuban cinema.
One of the special features of the film package would be a few films from the Imperfect Cinema era of Cuba from 1968.
As a part of this initiative, the festival will present a five to seven film package. The films presented will travel to a total of 16 Indian cities with the festival.
Cuba's 'Imperfect Cinema was a form or theme found through audiences that struggled in life and were aware of the hard times people were going through. It was believed that only in the person who suffered, elegance, gravity, even beauty could be perceived and the possibility of authenticity, seriousness, and sincerity could be recognised.

What we would be presenting to the people of India through this partnership is not just our films, but a glimpse into our culture, history and contemporary life, Oscar J. Martinez Cordovés, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, said in a statement.
This special film package will comprise of feature films and documentaries. As part of the initiative, the works of directors like Humberto Solás, Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, Julio García Espinosa, Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, Juan Carlos Tabío and Fernando Perez will be showcased.
The festival each year presents the cinema of a country. The past editions of the festivals have had cinemas of South Korea, Cyprus and the US, as its focus.
After travelling through 14 cities following Delhi, the festival will reach Mumbai for the finale on September 26.
