Time to auction intellect

New Delhi, May 13 (IANS) After the conventional buying and selling of materialistic riches, it's time to "buy" some intellect at the 'Ephemera On Indian Art' one-of-a-kind auction. The auction will feature 51 lots of books including, over 200 limited-edition monographs with other valuable and interesting stuff.

Apart from modern and contemporary Indian art and reviews by early and most respected critics, the online auction on May 17 and 18 offers artist-signed books and out-of-print catalogues which will be of interest for art collectors.

The auction, organised by StoryLTD, is aimed at address the needs of a growing collector base for books and create an arena for collectors to expand and enrich their art collections by making such scholarship available to them.

StoryLTD's previous two book auctions received a good response from collectors, hinting at the growing interest in the category of connoisseurs and people who look to discover the rich history of India.

This particular collection begins with the first book on the Indian artist Ravi Varma, which was published in Allahabad during his lifetime.

The collection also covers a range of Bengal School artists besides offering material on Amrita Sher-Gill, F.N. Souza, George Keyt and K.K. Hebbar and M.F. Husain.

Launched in 2013 by Saffronart, India's leading online auction house, StoryLTD is an online art purchasing platform intended to give both first-time bidders and serious collectors an opportunity to acquire unique Indian fine and decorative art pieces.
