New Delhi, May 12 (IANS) The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued notice to the state government on a plea challenging a guest teacher's removal from the post and delay in confirming 17,000 such teachers here.
Justice V.P. Vaish sought the government's reply by May 27 after petitioner Praveen Kumar also sought quashing of an April 18 letter whereby his services at Government Boys Senior Secondary School in Badarpur were terminated without hearing.
Kumar said that despite his hard work as a Maths teacher working on contract since 2010, he was arbitrarily relieved of his duties.
Kumar's counsels contended that he is president of All India Guest Teachers Association and was actively working for the cause of 17,000 guest teachers in Delhi, trying to persuade the government to regularise them.
They said the termination of his services is an act of "political vendetta" and contrary to the principle of natural justice.
