Sao Paulo (Brazil), May 12 (IANS) Former Brazil international midfielder Michel Bastos scored late to hand Sao Paulo a 1-0 victory over Brazilian rivals Atletico Mineiro in the first leg of their Copa Libertadores quarter-final.
Bastos broke the deadlock in the 79th minute when he headed in Wesley's curling free kick at Sao Paulo's Morumbi stadium here on Wednesday, reports Xinhua.
Sao Paulo need only a draw in next Wednesday's return leg in Belo Horizonte to secure a semi-final berth.
The Copa Libertadores is Latin America's most prized club trophy, comprising teams from South America and Mexico.
