Kochi, May 11 (IANS) The Spices Board of India will set up the country's first spice museum here.
It will trace the history and growth of the spices industry.
The museum will also showcase over 30 raw spices and culinary herbs and show how they are cultivated, processed, stored and quality assessed.
There will be paintings, pictures, brochures and books. Visitors will be able to buy authentic Indian spices.
A. Jayathilak, chairman, Spices Board, will lay the foundation stone of the museum on Thursday.
"The museum will be an information centre on quality spices to attract sailors and overseas tourists," he said.
The Cochin Port Trust allotted land to set up the museum.
