Paraguay expel Boca Juniors fans

Asuncion, May 10 (IANS) Six leaders from Argentine soccer club Boca Juniors' fan groups will be expelled from Paraguay and will be unable to re-enter the South American country for two years due to incidents that occurred before the Copa Libertadores de America match against Paraguay's Cerro Porteno, the international media reported.

Elvio Javier Luis Sosa, Federico Luis Finochieto, Rafael Di Zeo, Sebastian Marcelo Saravia, Mauro Leonardo Martin and Ramon Jesus Vedoya accepted the sentence on Monday and paid a fine of around $3,000 which will go towards a soup kitchen for poor children and elderly people here, said Attorney Aldo Cantero, according to Mexican sports daily Cancha, reports Xinhua.

The six Boca Juniors fans were accused of damaging public property and disturbing the peace. They were part of a group of 237 fans who were arrested for disturbances and they took responsibility for the crimes.

So far there is no exact date for the six to be expelled from Paraguay.

The game was played on April 28 and Boca Juniors defeated Cerro Porteno 2-1.
