Some relief for Delhi on Monday, mercury likely to go up on Tuesday

New Delhi, May 9 (IANS) The city experienced slight relief from scorching heat of the past few days on Monday with the maximum temperature settling at 38.4 degrees Celsius, average for the season. The Met office has however forecast for a hotter Tuesday.

"Partly cloudy sky with haze is likely to occur towards morning and evening hours on Tuesday," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), adding the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 40 and 28 degrees, respectively.

Monday's minimum temperature was recorded 27.6 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average while the humidity ranged between 35 and 63 percent.

Sunday's maximum temperature was recorded at 39.8 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature settled at 25.3 degrees Celsius, both a notch above the season's average.
