New Delhi, May 9 (IANS) The government has no plans to introduce degree programmes in hotel management institutes for 'vegetarian only' cuisine, the Lok Sabha was informed on Monday.
"The ministry of Tourism has received some requests from hotel associations including the Hotel Association of India (HAI) for considering degree or diploma courses in vegetarian or vegan cooking," Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma said in reply to a question.
The Minister said: "Presently, there are 21 central institutes of hotel management that admit students to a degree course specific to a common curriculum which includes preparation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine."
"All admitted students follow the common curriculum aimed at achieving expertise in the chosen field," he added.
