Eddie Redmayne joins ‘Early Man’ team

London, May 10 (IANS) Academy Award-winning actor Eddie Redmayne will voice a central character in Aardman Studios' upcoming prehistoric comedy adventure animation film "Early Man".

Redmayne is the first cast member announced in the stop-frame animation film, which is set at the dawn of time when prehistoric creatures and woolly mammoths roamed the earth, reports variety.com.

"The Danish Girl" actor will voice the role of plucky caveman Dug who, along with his sidekick Hognob, unites his tribe against the mighty Bronze Age in a battle to beat them at their own game.

Directed by Nick Park, the film is co-financed by Studiocanal.

It marks Park's first feature film since the Oscar-winning "Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit".

The film is slated for an early 2018 release. Studiocanal will distribute the title in Britain, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand and is selling worldwide rights for "Early Man".
