New Delhi, May 9 (IANS) The superhero team up in "Captain America: Civil War" has struck the right chord at the Indian box office. The film, starring Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr, minted over Rs.27 crore in its opening weekend.
The Disney and Marvel superhero adventure released in India on May 6.
According to a statement from the makers, "Captain America: Civil War" collected Rs.9.81 crore on Sunday with a growth of 10 percent over Saturday. The cumulative total so far is Rs.27.13 crore.
The collection is on the basis of business of both English as well as Hindi version of "Captain America: Civil War", wherein Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has voiced the character of Steve Rogers aka Captain America.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film sees an ideological showdown between Iron Man (played by Downey Jr) and Captain America (Evans) and is packed to the brim with other superheros.
Trade guru Taran Adarsh is impressed with the business of the film. He tweeted: "'CaptainAmerica: Civil War' Friday Rs 8.53 crore, Saturday Rs 8.79 crore, Sunday Rs 9.81 crore... Total Rs. 27.13 crore nett...Excellent".
"Captain America: Civil War" promises the spectacle of watching Captain America square off against Iron Man. It also introduces Tom Holland as Spider-Man and marks the first appearance of Chadwick Boseman as the Black Panther.
