Juventus midfielder Asamoah says this Serie A win was greatest

Turin, May 7 (IANS) Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah singled out this football season's triumph as the greatest and the "hardest" of his four consecutive Serie A titles.

Juventus struggled in the initial period of the Serie A season 2015-16. They were in 12th place after a loss to Sassuolo in week 10 in October, having started the season with just three Serie A wins, three draws and four defeats.

That was followed by 25 wins in 26 rounds, plus a 0-0 against Bologna on February 19, helped them get a fifth consecutive Scudetto. They are 12 points clear of second placed Napoli with two games left.

Juventus' poor start was also due to the several personnel changes the club witnessed in the summer.

“It was a very special moment for me, winning my fourth Scudetto on the spin. Enjoying this much success takes a lot of hard work and I’m proud of what we have achieved," the Ghana player told juventus.com.

“I would probably say that this latest league title was the hardest and therefore the most satisfying of the lot.

"We made a poor start but recovered superbly in the end. We realised what was required for us to become champions and were determined to ensure that our season would not be all over before the turn of the year."

The 27-year-old credited head coach Massimilano Allegri for the club's success. Allegri on Friday signed a one-year contract extension that will keep the 48-year-old in Juventus till the summer of 2018.

"I feel at home wherever the boss asks me to play; he is a fantastic coach who builds great relationships with his players on and off the field," he said of Allegri.

"The only way is up with Allegri at the helm, we are becoming a very good outfit under his guidance.

"As for next season, our focus should be on keeping up our good work in Serie A and going a step or two further in Europe: winning the Champions League is a dream we all share in the dressing room.”

This year, Juventus crashed out against Bayern Munich in the pre-quarterfinals of the European Champions League.
