Beijing, May 7 (IANS) China renewed a blue alert for rainstorm on Saturday as torrential rains that had lashed most regions in the south showed signs of weakening.
From Saturday to Sunday, heavy rain will continue in Sichuan, Hubei, Guizhou, Hunan, Zhejiang, Jiangxi and Fujian provinces, with precipitation expected to reach up to 90 mm, the National Meteorological Centre said.
Some of these areas will also see thunderstorms, strong wind or even hails, the People's Daily reported.
The centre suggested affected people avoid outdoor activities and take precautions against possible landslides, mud flows and rock falls.
China has a four-tier colour-coded warning system for severe weather, with red being the most serious, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
