Kolkata, May 6 (IANS) A proposed screening of Vivek Agnihotri's film "Buddha In A Traffic Jam" at Jadavpur University was cancelled on Friday, the filmmaker said.
"I reached Kolkata in the morning for the screening of #BuddhaInATrafficJam at Jadavpur Univ but they cancelled it," Agnihotri tweeted.
Referring to a letter from the JU Alumni Association which said the screening was cancelled "due to model code of conduct prevailing due to state assembly elections", Agnihotri dubbed it "a lame excuse".
Inspired by Agnihotri's own life, "Buddha In A Traffic Jam" deals with corruption and Maoism in a business school. The film features actors Mahie Gill, Aanchal Dwivedi, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, Arunoday Singh and Vivek Vaswani in it.
The film had attracted controversy earlier when its screening was sought to be cancelled at Jawaharlal Nehru University due to the volatile atmosphere there in the wake of the sedition charges levelled against students.
However, the film was later screened on campus with actor Anupam Kher, a critic of the students agitation, in attendance.
