Four Bengal students in ISC, ICSE merit list

Kolkata, May 6 (IANS) Two students each from here have ranked third in the all-India merit list of both the class 12 and class 10 board examinations conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), a statement said on Friday.

According to the CISCE, Arkadeb Sengupta, of Don Bosco School, Park Circus and Kavita Desai of Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society School have scored a total of 397 marks and 99.25 percent in the Indian School Certificate exam for Class 12.

Continuing the trend, in the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examinations for class 10, Arka Chatterjee (La Martiniere for Boys) and Oindrilla Bhadra (Vivekananda Mission School, Joka), stood third in the national merit list with 98.8 percent, the CISCE statement said.

The number of schools that presented candidates in India and abroad for the ISC examination is 954.

Overall, girls have done better than boys in both the examinations.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated the candidates.

"Heartiest congratulations to ICSE and ISC examination candidates for their success. Special congratulations to our toppers. We are proud of our young generation. They are the pillars of tomorrow," she said on Facebook.
