BJP MP seeks probe into Emaar-MGF group

New Delhi, May 4 (IANS) BJP Lok Sabha member Kirit Somaiya on Wednesday demanded a probe into the Emaar-MGF group, saying some people involved in the AgustaWestland chopper deal were made directors of the group.

"Those involved in the helicopter scam have been found indulging in corrupt practices with some Indian companies," Somaiya said raising the issue during zero hour.

He said he has documents from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) which prove that people involved in the AgustaWestland chopper deal were made directors of the Emaar-MGF group in September 2009.

Kanishka Singh, a close aide of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, has been reportedly linked with the company. Somaiya had earlier accused Kanishka Singh of holding shares in Emaar MGF.

Somaiya said: "They, through their skill development, invested Rs.50 lakh and earned Rs.5 crore in three years by buying and selling shops."

He demanded that there should be a probe into the matter.

Emaar MGF Land Ltd. has said the real estate company had no business links with Kanishka Singh while Guido Haschke -- whose name figures in connection with the AgustaWestland chopper deal -- was its independent director for a "brief period in 2009".

Rahul Gandhi has also denied the charges, saying he was being "targeted" by the BJP and the ruling establishment.
