New Delhi, May 3 (IANS) Delhi Chief Secretary Kewal Kumar Sharma here on Tuesday said there was a problem of multiplicity of authorities with regard to urban transport in the national capital.
Speaking on the occasion of 22nd Foundation Day of DMRC, Sharma said: "In Delhi, there isn't a single authority with regard to public transport. There are certain policy issues which need to be addressed.
"More needs to be done to improve transportation in Delhi. I request DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) to play whatever unified role it can in this direction," he said.
He also requested DMRC to conduct a study on why the car owners have not significantly shifted to the Metro during the odd-even traffic scheme.
Sharma lauded the Metro authority for its efficiency, saying it was an example for other organisations to replicate.
"The DMRC has done an exceptional job. It's inspiring to see DMRC function so effectively. It shows ways to other organisation," Sharma said.
Meanwhile, as the DMRC celebrated its Foundation Day, the Mandi House Metro station was adjudged the "Best Metro Station".
