Beijing, May 3 (IANS) Chinese President Xi Jinping has warned teachers in the party school against spreading "Western capitalist values", it was reported on Tuesday.
Instead of making groundless comments about national policies, the teachers must emphasize the leadership of the Communist Party of China in party schools, Global Times quoted Xi as saying.
Xi made the remarks in a speech aiming at consolidating the Communist Party's leadership after coming to know that some disseminated the Western values during lectures at party schools.
Some made groundless comments about the party and the government's policies, he said. Some even took part in "nondescript" social activities, Xi said.
Ye Qing, a deputy director of the statistics bureau of Central China's Hubei province, who has attended several lectures, admitted that some opinions expressed at the lectures "crossed the line".
"Before Xi took office, some party school teachers were pessimistic and tended to exaggerate social problems. Some tried to make themselves conspicuous by advocating the Western democratic system," Ye told the Global Times.
