Hyderabad, May 2 (IANS) Two more people died after being struck by lightning in Telangana on Monday, taking the toll to five in two days.
Both the deaths were reported from Ranga Reddy district, adjoining Hyderabad. While a 48-year-old man died in Moinabad mandal, a class 10 standard student lost life in Chevalla mandal, officials said.
Three people had died of lightening in Nalgonda district on Sunday.
Parts of the state have been receiving light rains or thundershowers for last two days even as the heat wave also continued.
The squally winds accompanied by rains wrecked havoc in parts of Hyderabad on Monday, felling electricity poles and wires. Three cars were damaged in Mallapur area.
The hailstorm also left a trail of destruction in Nizamabad district on Sunday. Electric poles were uprooted while 70 sheep were electrocuted.
The met office has forecast light with squalls in most parts of the state under the influence of an upper air trough extending from Chhattisgarh to south Tamil Nadu while passing over Telangana.
