Tracks clearing begin after train derailment near Ghaziabad

Lucknow, May 2 (IANS) Clearing of the tracks and removing eight derailed coaches of the Delhi-Faizabad 14206 Padmavat Express began on Monday morning, police said.

The train had derailed between Kakather and Gadhmukteshwar in Hapur on Sunday night.

The derailed coaches included two sleeper, four air-conditioned coaches, guard, and seating and luggage rake (SLR) coach, a railway official informed IANS.

Following the derailment, traffic hit the busy rail route. On Monday, workers were trying to clear the track at the earliest, officials added.

More than 100 passengers have suffered minor injuries in the accident.

The train also decoupled soon after the derailment and the engine along with 11 coaches went ahead while the eight bogies that were derailed were dragged for a few hundred metres and then slipped off the track and turtled.

The speed of the train was 90kmph when the accident took place.

The tracks were been ripped apart due to the impact of the derailment.
