Gurgaon, May 2 (IANS) With Asthma becoming one of the most common respiratory diseases in the world, a campaign to raise awareness about increasing air pollution was launched here on Monday.
During the two-week-long 'Save Your Lungs Campaign', various mediums like street plays, interaction sessions with various types of professionals will be held in the city to inform people about the best means to curb the damage caused by polluted air to their lungs.
The campaign was launched by Puran Kumar, joint commissioner of police, Gurgaon. The awareness campaign is being held under the partnership of Clean Air India Movement (CLAIM) in association with Aviss Health.
According to the medical experts, Gurgaon has one of the most polluted air quality in the National Capital Region (NCR).
For the next two weeks the campaign will also see over 20 volunteers roaming around the city to inform people about various stages of damages caused by air pollution.
"People need to understand that air pollution is taking toll on their respiratory health, making them prone to asthma and other respiratory diseases. In fact, pollution not just aggravates problem for the asthmatics," said Himanshu Garg, senior pulmonologist from Aviss Health.
