Lucknow, April 30 (IANS) Owing to severe heatwave in the city, the district administration on Saturday announced preponing of summer breaks in all city schools.
District Magistrate of Lucknow, Raj Shekhar informed that the schools of class nursery to eigh, will now close from May 6 instead of May 13.
For classes nine till 12, the schools will close for the summer break from May 20.
Shekhar however said that for senior classes where the exams were underway, such schools will be allowed to open till May 27.
The mercury has been touching 43-44 degrees celsius in the city for the past week, forcing parents to petition the district magistrate over early closure of schools.
For the next one week before the summer break, the schools timings have been changed to 7.00 a.m. opening and 11.00 a.m. closure.
