New Delhi, April 30 (IANS) Actor Pankaj Tripathi, best known for essaying grey characters in films like “Gangs of Wasseypur”, “Omkara” and “Singham Returns”, says he doesn’t like it when people praise him for such roles because he is not like those characters in real life.

“I like playing positive characters more. I don't like the negative ones as I have to put in a lot of effort because I'm not that person in real life.

“I don't like when people appreciate my negative roles because my ideology is totally different from the negative characters that I have played,” Pankaj told IANS.

Pankaj, who has been a part of the entertainment industry for over a decade now, says in personal life he is quite similar to Sadhya Ji -- a character that he played in Neeraj Ghaywan’s “Masaan”.

“If you ask me what kind of a person I'm in real life, then you should watch 'Masaan'. The role that I played in that film is exactly what I'm in my personal life,” he said.

Pankaj feels that an actor becomes versatile enough when he gets to play all type of roles rather than playing similar ones every time.

“An actor evolves through every character that he plays onscreen. In every negative role that I play, I try to find positivity in that.

“In every negative role, I try to show the character's human side because nobody is a villain in real life and nobody is a hero. Everybody is living in a grey area,” said the “Nil Battey Sannata” star.
