Thiruvananthapuram, April 29 (IANS) Over 1,400 nominations are likely to have filed for the May 16 Kerala assembly elections, said officials as the deadline for filing papers ended Friday.
Till Thursday, the total nominations received had crossed 900 and there was a heavy rush on the last day too. The final figures are expected to come later. The total nominations in the 2011 assembly polls had stood at 1,363.
Scrutiny of nominations would take place on Saturday and Monday (May 2) is the last day for withdrawal of nomination.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy filed his nomination papers in Kottayam on Friday and so did several others from various political parties besides independents in various parts of the state.
