Rio de Janeiro, April 29 (IANS) Brazilian cyclists have eased concerns about the Rio 2016 Olympic velodrome by giving the venue an informal test run.
Images published by the Globo newspaper on Thursday showed several cyclists trialling the venue for the first time, just days after its track was laid, reports Xinhua news agency.
The velodrome is the least advanced of Rio's Olympic venues. A test event at the facility was cancelled last month due to logistical problems which delayed construction work.
According to the Rio de Janeiro government, the venue is now 84% complete. Earlier this month Rio 2016 chief Carlos Nuzman said the velodrome was only a fortnight behind schedule.
The 5,000 seat venue has been built at a cost of around $43 million.
