Paris, April 28 (IANS) Paris Saint-Germain have added young striker Odsonne Edouard to the first team by handing the 18-year-old his first professional contract, the French football champions have announced.
The teenage sensation, who joined the club's youth academy in 2011, will play for the Qatari Royal backed Parisians till 2019, reports Xinhua.
A notable inclusion in coach Laurent Blanc's pre-season training camp in Austria last year, Edouard showed his talent this season with PSG's under-19 side in the European Youth League, claiming three goals and three assists from eight matches.
The native of Kourou in Guyana also won the European youth championship with the French U-17 side in 2015, finishing as the top scorer with eight goals.
"I'm very happy with this show of faith from the club where I learnt my trade," said Edouard after putting pen to paper on Wednesday. "It's a great honour to become a professional at this very ambitious club."
"It means a lot for me, a Parisian, to sign with Paris Saint-Germain. It's a dream come true, but still it's just the beginning," he added.
"We're very proud to have Odsonne sign his first contract as a professional player with us," declared Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Paris Saint-Germain Chairman and CEO.
"He is on his way to becoming a great striker and I'm sure his talent will delight our fans and will represent the club's values perfectly."
